Getting to Know YOU Better

Well, I have been taking a few weeks break from the blogging world for a bit.  Have needed to get caught up on some life stuff that I just couldn’t put off anymore.  That being said, I have spent the bulk of today going through my newsfeed, trying to get caught up on a little bit of what I have missed over here at good ol’ WordPress.

I’ve had some laughs and giggles, have learned a few things, and have sympathized with a few of you, and am eager for some more of it!  But the point of this post is, I came across PennyWilsonWrites and her Meet & Greet post and thought it was a brilliant idea!  (And I hope she doesn’t mind I’ve linked to her post) Continue reading “Getting to Know YOU Better”

Cleaning Out My Closets; Trying to Simplify My Life and Figure Out My Style all the While Trying to Look Age Appropriate. Yikes!

I have been busy lately.  If you’ve read any of my previous posts you already know that I’ve been working at trying to simplify and declutter my home and my life.  I’ve done another round of house purging, I’ve finally started (after 3 plus years) decorating, I’ve been working my way through clearing out my closets and I have not been having an easy time with any of it.  Through it all the one roadblock I keep coming up against that has made every decision on what to toss, put up, what to keep such a painstaking process is I have no idea what my style is.  I have no idea what type of image I want to project, if I have an image at all, if things are age appropriate and what my image says about me and what, if anything, I would even want it to say.  And yes, this is one of those girly/first world problems/consumerism type posts.  Sometimes it’s just necessary to take a break and head on over to the shallow end of the pool. Stop Telling Me I Need To Travel

180644_10150373635175254_3188581_nI am a huge proponent of the staycation and advocate strongly for living someplace you love and learning where you live.  Why bother?  Because you spend the majority of your waking hours and life there.  Why would you not want to?  There is always something new to be discovered, something beautiful to be found, something unique to do, a special tradition or culture in which to immerse yourself, and a history all it’s own just waiting to be discovered no matter where you live. Tales From My Couch: Rainy Day Musings on Pop Culture and Blogging

Well, it’s raining today – of course.  So my eagerly anticipated departure back out on to the lake has been delayed a bit.  Not that like papyrus I will dissolve and disappear into the ether at the slightest touch of rain Continue reading “Tales From My Couch: Rainy Day Musings on Pop Culture and Blogging”

Another Random Weekend Update Post

One of the perks of my particular contract at work is that I have a certain minimum hours per week I need to put in.  That hardly sounds like a perk (aside from the guaranteed minimum income), except with a few basic math skills, if you take the amount I am mandated to fulfill, account for one or two shifts working out of town per week, and divvy it up over the work week, it is easy to assess that my hours can be completed within 4 days, as opposed to 5.  Continue reading “Another Random Weekend Update Post”

Better late than never? And yes, I’ve gone AWOL.

This is what my original post started out like…

It’s a Friday, and here in Canada it is the Friday before the first official long weekend of summer, Canada Day long weekend to be specific.  And to be even more precise, Canada’s 150th celebration. Continue reading “Better late than never? And yes, I’ve gone AWOL.”

Life Advice To Myself

I have spent countless hours poring through websites, magazines, self help books, guide books, talking to others, talking to professionals, looking for ways to be and do things better, to gain new perspective on things, basically in search of advice that I can apply to my own life and issues.  And I’ve learned from a lot of it.  But I’ve come across so much that is so situational that you have to put your own spin on, and therein lies the reason why so often you can go searching for advice on your problem and follow it to the T, and find it still does not work out for you as you had hoped.
